I was walking down the street today when I heard a skateboard coming up behind me. I didn't look back, but I moved a bit to the right so the kid would have room to pass. As the skater approached and got beside me he made sort of a roaring sound as if he were trying to scare or startle me. It didn't work, but I smiled to myself and glanced at him as he wizzed by. He was closely followed by a second boy who barely seemed to notice me. The boys continued to the end of the block, stopped and pressed the button so the light would change and they could cross the street. The first boy was short and appeared to be ten, maybe eleven years old. The second was taller and I'd guess about thirteen. They weren't dressed in the normal baggy clothing most skaters seem to wear thse days, though their cargo pants and tees were slightly oversized. But what stood out was what they wore around their clothing. They wear both wrapped in toilet tissue. It was loosely wrapped around their arms, legs, and torsos, hanging off in streams sort of like the bandages on a mummy from an old horror movie, except their was as much of it. The taller boy even had a headband with a long stream trailing behind him. When the light changed the boys continued across the street like everything was perfectly normal and no one would notice their strange attire.
I'm not sure why I'm mentioning it other than I found it rather amusing. Having lived in and around LA for the last twenty years, I've seen many oddly dressed people, but I can't recall any dressed in toilet tissue.
Think good thoughts,
