This is a thread that was started by Kevin, but somehow became acrimonious, so I now put in my twopennyworth in a different thread.
There is no way that we can bring the whole world into harmony. "Even" the United Nations can't do that. I think that Marc is right when he says that we must concentrate on the micro not on the macro. This brings us back to the question that I asked many weeks ago. It caused a rumpus then and I hope that it won't do so this time.
There is no 'positive' way I can interact with other people until I know what their preferences are (or are most likely to be). This presents no problem in our interactions with people we know, but it is very problematic with the other 6,000,000,000 people on this planet.
I truly believe that if people, in their interactions with strangers, were to really try to put into practice the aphorism that you will see below gradually the world would become more peaceful. Very gradually. Not in my lifetime. Not in smith's lifetime. But if we start now it may come about in the lifetime of smith's grandchildren.
And what better place to start than on this Message Board? "Never do to anyone else something that you would not like them to do to you."
Here endeth today's sermon... ;-D
