In the aftermath of all the terrorism and bloodshed since the first Gulf War, the lesson in complacency of multiple bombings in the UK, all of Europe and that terrible morning in New York that September not long ago, you would think that someone would find a common thread that might help us all to get over this knot of hate, this ball of confusion that keeps coming up and killing people without reason.
And I know I'm jumping the gun a lot here, since we don't have all the answers about this business occuring in Turkey last weekend and now today, but it seems to me that the Al-Qaeda organization is now going so totally insane that they are even attacking Moslem mosques. That's right, they have harmed their own religious sites as well as attacking banks, Jewish Synagogs and random persons in the streets.
Kinda puts things into perspective when they are now willing to destroy as well as ignore thier own faith in order to strike out at others.
I wonder where the insanity and terrorism will end. There is a subtle lack of respect for human life in these people. Islam is a tolerant, loving, life-valuing religion with its origins tracable back to the beginnings of the Jewish and Christian faiths as well. How can children of the same God not at least respect each other enough to seek other avenues of redress for their grievances?
I grieve for the world. I send out my heart and prayers to those who died there this week, at the hands of strangers who are just blood-crazed in their cowardly need for violence. I send out my prayers to those that continue to pursue terrorism, that they may realize that the means are at least as important as the ends, and that they might evaluate exactly what it is they are fighting for. I feel great pity and sympathy for those that are left without their loved ones now, those who have been orphaned, widowed and widowered, and the ones who may have lost their children in these attacks.
May we all seek to find some solace in this madness. Some end to the violence. May we all realize just how terrible all of this is for everyone, not just those that got hurt, or those that survived, or those that are soon to be on the receiving end of military action that they keep calling down on themselves.
And may we all hope to just find peace, for all of us.
It's not the wolf you see you should fear, but all the ones he howls with. Don't be afraid of the song, but don't piss off the choir.
