I was once so proud to have been awarded "Gay Page Awards" for the site. They are still displayed at present on the awards page.
Behind the awards is a webring of award winners, and many of us were members. That webring has dwindled in size until there are now perhaps 60 members. The awarder of the awards also vanished, was replaced by an interim one, and now a new organisation has taken over.
The first message from the new organisation tried to sell all webring members his services.
I have removed my site from that webring for that reason. I do not support his aims that appear to be entirley commercial.
After telling him that I did not find the way he was doing business and managing the webring very pleasant he started name calling, which was not wholly helpful. I am now considering whether to remove the original awards, awarded years ago by the original awarding body. To me they are now a spent force in gay website quality. And that's a shame.
