Maybe this is my favorite season of the year, I'm not sure. They all have their own charm (woe to you all who live where there aren't seasons! Smile), but still, there is something special about spring. Seeing the world coming back to life from hibernation, trees and animals alike awakening from deep sleep.

I went for a short walk this evening of maybe 40-50 minutes or so, it is in the middle of the week, yet there wasn't much traffic, not much noise. I could listen to the birds without sounds from the city disturbing me.

Each bird has its own call as it seeks a mate and defends its territory. One bird cries out, another responds from the tree right next to it. I love our Swedish birds, unassuming yet flamboyant in a way. They make me feel happy.

Under the water tower shadows were long and the sun stood low in the completely clear sky - apart from condensation streaks from the odd jet airliner - yet it was an uplifting mood I was in; walking around that tall mushroom-shape assisted my thought-processes, and I was enjoying the not chilly, yet not warm air too.

That is what I like about the Swedish spring, when the air is neither cold nor warm, and more or less still and calm. If one stands in the shade, one is almost freezing, yet in the sun it can be so warm the jacket has to be unzipped! People relax a little, they open up - literally. We take it easy and rather stand and enjoy the weather outdoors rather than hurry inside like we do during the winter.

After being padded with insulation for so many months, we too feel hormones stir. Young people start to kiss and cuddle in public, driven by their own feelings.

I passed the frog pond near where I live. Soon the air will be filled by ancient amphibian quacks as horny, slimy acquatic creatures copulate and lay their jelly-like eggs. I don't know how they find it, but in a few weeks the footpath that leads up to the pond will literally be crawling with these creatures after the night falls, all of them heading towards water.

Hmmm... Maybe now I know why I like swimmer-boys so much! Sad)

Spring is great.

direct my sail."
