Recently, I have been listening to a series of self-development tapes and this is one of the assignments:-
"For the next seven days, take two-minutes each morning to look in the mirror and repeat," I love you [your name], I love you [your name]..." Telling yourslf the specific reasons you love yourself."
I tries it out this morning.
I know I love myself (most likely, above everyone else) but to look into the mirror, staring into my own eyes and say it out loud was surprisingly more difficult than I've expected. And I had to think hard for specific reasons why I love myself.
It was embarrassing (even though I was alone) but after much giggling and false starts, it was done.
This experience leads me to think why is it that I have such a hard time saying out loud that I love myself. Why do I need permission to do that? Is it due to my innate nature, culture, etc.?
Also, it was fasinating to see the changes in my facial expression while I go through the proclamations. Is that how I look when I am embarrassed, shy and amused? Most of us don't have the opportunities to observe our own facial expressions and see what others see.
