If yes, here's a tip for you:
Go look up a skin called LayerOne. It's available at http://www.metaskins.net for example and it totally rules.
It's small and regularly shaped so it's actually useable (doesn't look like a boomerang that takes up half your screen real estate like so many other stupid skins), buttons actually have symbols on them humans can decipher (ie, play button actually looks like a play button etc), it has great VIS modes, manymany good color schemes, and it's just overall an excellent and very stylish skin.
I use it now in the Shade mode and with 80% transparency. Well, I guess 20% transparency/80% opacity is a more correct way to put it, but that's how the slider is labelled... Looks awesome when it sits in the upper right corner of the screen with AVS next to it.
I also have about a million AVS presets that look really cool that can just sit there and cycle through at random to give some visual boost to the desktop.
