It's his heart, he's suffering from arrythmia or whatever it's called (the chambers get unsynchronized and his pulse races, despite having a pacemaker since many years). My mother's half hysterical because, well, for starters she's a hysterical woman, but also because she feels he's not realizing he's got a condition, and for once she may have a point there. He keeps on the way he's always done and says there's nothing wrong with him. Not long before he had to take a taxi down to the hospital (in part because my mother started screaming at him), he tried to go do his swim-training as usual, but was forced to give up when his heart started racing when he jumped into the pool.
I feel a bit concerned, I must say.
"But he that hath the steerage of my course,
direct my sail."
-William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, Act One, Scene IV
