Hope Springs!

This last week I got back in touch with an old school colleague. Well, to be fair, we’ve been in touch for perhaps 6 months and have been arranging to meet. He and I have not met since the day we each slid quietly out of that school as is the UK habit on leaving schools. No graduation, no pomp.

We’re each 52 year old, slightly rumpled adults now.

Until that meeting I have always considered myself to be “stuck” at just after puberty in my ability to be attracted to other people. It may be the shared history, but I was very heartened, and in some ways regretful, no, wistful, that I saw in him an attractive man. Interestingly I had never been remotely attracted tohim at school.

The point of the post is to rejoice.

I will never lose my attraction to youthful men. That is a given. But I had never believed before I could be attracted to a man of my own age.

And that is a powerful message to give to anyone else who believes they are stuck, fixated with a certain age group
