I live about 45 minutes by car from the oil depot. About 40 miles, maybe more.
Our windows and doors were rattled at approx 6am this morning and the explosion was like thunder. It was also heard in the Netherlands.
Probably this was because a layer of cold air was trapped under another layer and the sound and pressure wave were trapped. But wow!
I think the real wonder is that this has never happened here before. Those depots have a fabulous safety record.
