Despite being a geek, I've never ventured into the hazardous waters of IRC. Now I've tried, I can see that I was probably very sensible.
Does anyone here ever use it? Are there any communities of proper, intelligent people on IRC, or is it all people with the mentality of children? Is there a single channel for gay people in the vein of this board, where people are interested in more than A/S/L and CAM?
I'm a bit disappointed, because I was under the impression that IRC, as the forerunner of the web-based messageboard systems we see today, would somehow be more dignified than run-of-the-mill web-based chat or MSN-style chatting. How wrong I was!
I do wonder whether if this is the only messageboard of its type in the whole world...
