Dear Marc and Timmy,
Two days ago you determined that posting pictures that include people on this forum may be inappropriate. I believe that in order to avoid the embarrassment of having one's pictures removed it would be proper to articulate the new policy regarding the posting of pictures that include people. I say "new policy" because posting of pictures with people in them has not been uncommon in the past.
On July 11th a picture of a group of guys in bike shorts was posted and discussed. Not only did Marc not object to the posting but, to quote him, "I took the image to the VCT lab at the univercity and ran an analysis of the pixel dispersment and along with 3 indipendant opinions came to the conclusion that the picture was not altered or enhanced." Less than 5 weeks later there was a picture, or pictures, which Marc found inappropriate. Since I never saw the August 13th picture(s) I am unaware of the difference(s) between the two situations. Marc's post, "Personally I believe....posting pictures of young people on a gay oriented web site is invasive to the person depicted. It carries the potential of being wrongly associated with a gay sight." does not provide the necessary insight.
After the picture(s) was/were removed and the discussion continued Marc found it necessary to express himself a little more forcefully with a post beginning "Look....this is how it is....", an opening that I personally found offensive. Marc has every right to have and express his opinion, but to tell me "how it is" is an attempt to deny me the right to my own opinion.
However, Marc's way of expressing himself is not the point of this post. It is to everyone's advantage that the forum's rules regarding the posting of pictures that include people be clearly established and understood. The "Privacy, Disclaimer, Copyright" section may be an appropriate place for such rules.
Sincerely,
JimB
