JFR is heading to hospital on Tuesday for a colonoscopy. Normally this is simply an unpleasant procedure with a doctor shoving a periscope up your arse and looking for enemy shipping.

The thing is, those of us who have met him know that he is not a well man. and he and his doctors are concerned about the procedure, which they considered very carefully before allowing.

When I say "nervous" he is scared shitless.

While this is a great advantage for the periscope part he is concerned that stuff may "go wrong" and that he may not survive the normally simple procedure. Obviously that is something he will know little about, but he has much unfinished business here, not least of which is welcoming his next grandchild in May or June.
