The date is something I, unlike many other men, will always remember. Bastille day 30 years ago was the date I was married. And we are still together, and still like each other! Quite an achievement. Marriage is a partnership and a contract. Contracts require work to keep them valid. We've worked at ours.
What is an excellent coincidence is that, after mislaying him for a dozen years somewhere in the Pacific Rim I have also found the friend who was my best man, and who is our son's godfather. I was given his email address today by his cousin, and I very much hope to hear from him in the next day or so. It will be a good omen, I hope, if he gets in touch on Bastille Day, too.
