We come to that time of year when the sun starts to return from its apparent journey south – on Monday, 21 December, at 17.47 hrs GMT/UTC, somewhere over the Pacific Ocean west of the northern coast of Chile. Here in England the sun has already begun to set later although the night is still lengthening as it rises later too. It will not start to rise earlier here until the 6 January.
Here's to you, Kiwi. Your loss is our gain.
