... Rome's Mayor Gianni Alemanno today, and reported some 5-hours ago at netscape.aol.com, as a crowd estimated by the Vatican to be at 150,000 filled St. Peter's Square in an organized mass rally, and major show of support for Pope Benedict XVI over the clerical sex abuse scandal.

Thousands Flock to Vatican to Back Pope Over Abuse
Alemanno, quoted by Associated Press Television News, saying "We want to show our solidarity to the Pope and transmit the message that single individuals make mistakes BUT INSTITUTIONS, FAITH AND RELIGION CANNOT BE QUESTIONED, we will not allow this."
The capitalization of the text is mine; but, damn the arrogance of the man to suppose that we, members of the World Community cannot "ever" question an Institution, Faith and Religion that has shielded and suborned accountability and, at best, remains seen to be complicit in the abuse of what could potentially have been tens-of-thousands of children (and young adults) Worldwide for a period of what it transpires may well have been more than century, and quite possibly more.
Who the hell does he think he is?
