Howdy All,
Hope that you are well keeping well and that our friends in the Northern Hemisphere are enjoying the start to their summer
It is getting bloody old here (well cold by South African standards) and I would strongly recommend that anyone coming over for a World Cup Match pack their winter woollies
Now back to point. As some of you may and may not know I have been having progressive problems with my eyes and vision for some years now and was told about a month ago that it was time to start considering a Cornea Graft. After a number of tests, scans, appointments, second-opinions and operative consultations it was confirmed to me that contact lenses could no longer help with my degenerative vision and that having a graft would be the only fix.
I guess in one way it is really good that I've had very little time to ponder the matter, as at 08H35 SA Local time I got a phone call from my Ophthalmic Surgeon to tell me that I have been approved for surgery and that there is Cornea available for me.
I go in for the Graft next Wednesday the 09 June 2010... and now I am scared...
I am hoping that it is just a case of 'cold-feet' or 'pre-operative jitters' and linked to the fact that Cornea Transplants are not something you hear about very often my anxiety levels are through the roof... I'm going to be lucky if I get a full nights sleep over the next few days.
I know that this really has nothing to do with anything but I just need to talk about it... I think that more than anything else the recovery is what's bothering me.
Have any of you had a Cornea Graft or know a little bit about the whole thing ??
