I know...here I go reposting something from Brody's Blog but upon reading this I had to scream with joy:
http://brodylevesque.blogspot.com/2011/01/brodys-notes-15-year-old-arizona-lgbtq.html
To quote something I read years ago (and maybe one of you can find me the attribution) "All it takes is one valiant warrior to bring down an evil king and his wicked court." (Now that I think of it I hope is isn't from Conan the Barbarian)
Caleb Laeiski may turn out to be that warrior. For too long gay youth has been bullied in our schools and Caleb's direct approach is no different than the first gay couple who stood up for gay marriage and had laws changed.
For now Caleb seems to agree that the insertion of stricter langauge in school policy will serve his purpose. But across the nation the parents of gay children are feeling the pain of bullying. Not only was 2010 a sad year of multiple suicides, but the bullying continues.
As several gay support groups, parents and gay children seek relief in the court system the school districts will begin to feel the financial pressure. Nothing hits a school administrator harder than losing a million dollar lawsuit....I hope it happens a hundred times all across the nation.
Perhaps Caleb will inspire the movement.
Age appears to be best in four things; old wood best to burn, old wine to drink, old friends to trust, and old authors to read. (Sir Francis Bacon 1561-1626)
