Ever since I saw Forrest Gump I began to appreciate that not only is life like a box of chocolates but the way a person eats a box of chocolates can tell you something about them.

Now I must confess that chocolates are one of the things I love most in the world. I've had many types of chocs from those in standard boxes to those made by specialist chocolatiers like William Curly. Some have been quite unusual (rosemary & olive oil; juniper and cassis; tarragon & mustard; apricot and wasabi) but I've never encountered any that I've actually disliked, though I like some much more than others.

If given the choice between no sex (apart from with my own hand) and no chocolates for the rest of my life, I'd probably choose to keep the chocs. So the way I deal with a box of chocs is probably a bit unusual. This is what I do when I get a box of chocs in order to maximise the pleasure and minimise the negative effects such as putting on weight:

1) I allow myself to open the box no more than twice per day, and that usually after meals and instead of a dessert.
2) I don't eat more than two chocs at a time, and if possible make them contrasting (e.g. milk and dark, or white and dark, or white and milk). The only exception to this rule is if there is an uneven number in the box, in which case I allow myself 3 chocs to finish the box.
3) The first ones I go for are the ones I like least (e.g. fruit fondants, Turkish delight).
4) Then I look to see if there are multiple example of the same chocolate, in which case I choose them in such a way that eventually there is just one of each type in the box.

I wonder how other people deal with a box of chocs?

Kit
