I read this when it first appeared elsewhere and it made a deep impression. I have thought of it often and re- read it a couple of times. 

Just my thought, but I would suggest that you do not read the note at the end about the origin of the story until you have given yourself plenty of time to digest the story itself.

Frankly, we think such laws are silly. They do young people more harm than good. How can you possibly ask questions on a gay forum without coming out to your parents if you need consent?
