I have just had a privileged view of this short film. It reflects the attitudes prevalent in the UK under section 28 of the Local Government Act, though the act itself is not necessarily relevant to the film.

I was going to embed an interview with the director, but the sound quality is poor and it's a bit of a precious interview really.

Instead I've embedded what is, for me, probably not the best of the film, but is poignant nonetheless.

This is a nice story, mostly. It says a lot about the progress made by gays over the years. But the question that kept rolling through my mind as I read the article "What of Katz's wife?" She is not mentioned in the story at all. It seems to me that a gay man (or straight man for that matter) owes something to his wife who bore him 3 kids. I can't see how one feels justified dumping the wife for a new mate despite the marriage vows. The fact that a guy is gay should not be an excuse to break a wedding deal. Yet, somehow, I feel that many gay men feel justified to do so.

I have had enough. Religions, quasi religions, determinism, the good and the pure crap are OFF LIMITS. If you have a secret friend, good. keep it secret. Mine is a six foot rabbit named Harvey.

Is this truly just a matter of semantics, or your personal prejudice towards certain idiomatic phrases? You seem to be particularly bothered by the phrase “Stand up and be counted”, endowing it with a somewhat combative connotation. That is not my understanding of the phrase. I tend to agree with the following explanation:

All this PR over Adam Lambert as the first GAY American Idol, from the show of the same name...All over some sensuous kissing photos on the internet. I don't think this says anything about Adam's sexuality. I think that our culture is changing and the older generation is befuddled by it. Anyway, Clay Aiken was already the first gay american idol, and there was never a question about his being gay when he was a contestant.

BTW, have you all heard Susan Boyle from "Britain's Got Talent". She's sensational! I like her rendition of "The Promise" much better than the original Broadway.

I took off my shoes as I entered the hallway
Thousands of miles between the walls, I'm turning red inside
I grab a towel, wash my face, put it away for some other time
If ever I could find what I am looking for..

I needed something, different and real,
Not something that blinded, so I couldn't feel..

I am falling down, the highway
Fall into the danger zone again,

Two passengers on an Israir flight from Moscow to Eilat were detained Tuesday upon reaching Israel, after rioting on board their plane. One of the men bit a flight attendant's buttocks, while the other punched his wife. The two men were slapped with fines and sentenced to an eight-day prison term. They will later be deported to Russia, an Eilat court ruled. The incident took place on Saturday after the passengers, Dmitry Tsintsdza and Dmitry Kazkow, had too much to drink, resorting to some reckless behaviour on board the plane. Tsintsdza yelled and broke seats, and when a stewardess attempted to calm him he bit her rear-end. Soon after, Kazkow followed suit, punching his wife after she pleaded with him to behave. Police officers were waiting for the two friends upon arrival, and led them to the nearest jail cell. Judge Erez Yekuel sentenced the two men to eight days in prison and a probation period of 12 months. In addition, Tsintsdza will have to compensate the stewardess to the tune of $500, and pay the airline $250. Meanwhile, Kazkow had to sign a $6,300 promissory note, obligating him to refrain from hitting his wife again.

This is a strictly mathematical viewpoint...

it goes like this:
