Are you and yours all right? I know that's selfish, but you're the only guy I know in the South Island.

We're all good, thanks timmy. Several family members are now homeless - no.2 son is over here holidaying on the West Coast and his house in Christchurch fell down Sad

Other refugees are on the way over now, but at least no-one's hurt. A lot of other poor b's are not so lucky - at least 65 dead & probably more to come. Hundreds of injuries.

The earthquake in September happened early in the morning and everyone said, "at least it wasn't in the middle of the day with thousands of people out and about." This one was in the middle of the day.

cheers

Homeless is a total bummer, but acceptable. Loss of photographs, memories, etc is dreadful but acceptable. Even killed instantly is acceptable. Maimed, buried alive, losing a loved one, that hurts worst.

I know "They are only possessions" is trite, but it's true.

Anyway, for New Zealanders everywhere, please hug your family from a perfect stranger on the other side of the world. A hug's a funny thing. It's transient, but it transfers so much from hugger to hugged. So make it a good 'un from me.

If I may butt in, I immediately thought of you and your family and friends when I heard the news. I do not know you personally, but having experienced earthquakes, and with Internet connections, we're all involved. Glad to hear that most important family members and friends (hopefully) are well and accounted for. You are in my prayers.

You can put your butt in, Raymundo & thanks.

It really is a small world sometimes. Thanks to the internet and to power outages, people everywhere knew more of what was happening than those in the 'burbs of Christchurch did.

cheers
